A payday loan payment, which he had demanded, was also on his mind. There is, however, a five-week delay and the payment is made in arrears. At his death, he had $4.61 in his bank account as a result of delays.

Clearly, he had no other choice except to withdraw the money from his bank account.

In the midst of his family, Phillip Lynn Herron died on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the Mobile, Alabama hospital where he had been a patient for many years.

Theodore, Alabama’s Mr. Herron served in the Vietnam War and retired as the company’s store room manager after 31 years of service.

Shirley Ridings Herron, his 55-year-old wife, two sons, Eric (Gina) and Mark (Betzy) Herron, their four grandchildren, Tyler, Chase, Adalynn, and Kalan, as well as a brother-by-choice, Jay Ridings, and numerous other relatives and friends mourn the loss of Phillip Herron.

In an open letter to his heartbroken mother, Phillip wrote: “his family would be better off if he wasn’t there anymore.” His death was a “total shock” to his relatives, who had no idea he was having financial problems.

Her subsequent investigation revealed that Phillip owed £20,000 to banks, utility companies and modern-day loan sharks (pay day lenders) who charged him a 1000% annual percentage rate. Phillip’s house was on the verge of foreclosure. Sheena discovered an eviction notice from his social landlord in his files.

Mother Marcia Ash, father Jackie Herron, grandmother Jewel Herron, companion Renee Smith, sister Alice Lowery and her husband James, brothers Bill Ash and his wife Ginger, and John Ash and his wife Jong all survive, as do many other loved ones and friends from the PhilAir Family. He will be sorely missed by them all.

He is a 1986 Lebanon High School alumnus. As a lifelong aviation enthusiast, Phil founded and operated a flight school in Daytona Beach, Florida. Now he’s working for WGA and getting to see the world. He was also a member of Lebanon’s Airport Commission. Every day was a joyous occasion for Phil, who savored every moment of it.

Saturday, June 8th, from 3-7 p.m. and Sunday, June 9th, from 12 noon until a service at 2:00 p.m. in the Partlow Funeral Chapel will be the time for visitation. Phil’s relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers at his funeral. At Cedar Grove Cemetery, a burial. Donations in lieu of flowers are welcome.
